Janet is the Assistant Director for Pre-Award Research Operations for the Department of Child and Family Studies. Her main responsibilities are to lead the pre-award team on grant proposals and submissions as well as post-award contract renegotiations, modifications, annual reports, and extensions.
Janet began working at USF in September 2007. From 2009-2017, Janet served as a USF TRAIN® Associate. This internal designation was given by the Research Administration Improvement Network (TRAIN®) to employees who have been vetted as subject matter experts in a particular aspect of pre-award and/or post-award. She was a TRAIN Ambassador (1 of only 9 university-wide) from 2015-2017. TRAIN Ambassadors represented their college and interests and provided input into training, meetings, and policy changes to the Department of Sponsored Programs. She was also a TRAIN Lead Instructor for the CRS-USF/Advanced Course. In April 2023, she was appointed by the Vice President for Research and Innovation and President of the Research Foundation to serve as a Project Champion and Advisor for USF’s first-ever comprehensive Grants Management System. This role requested input from 20 individuals University-wide on the design, testing, training and post-production phases of the project. From 2024 to the present, Janet has served as the co-chair of the Bulls iResearch User Steering Committee. She also serves on the CBCS Research Council and the Research Administration Committee (one of 22 research administrators university-wide).
Janet has received numerous nominations and awards for her service to the university,
college, and department. These honors include receiving the Outstanding Staff Award
for 2024. She received the 2021 Recognition Award Program from the College of Behavioral
and Community Sciences. She was selected for the USF Research Administrator in the
Spotlight for Research Administrator Day 2016.
