Anna Soares, MS, a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), has been awarded the 2025 Graduate Student Scholarship by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation). This national honor recognizes graduate students who have shown exemplary academic performance and demonstrated strong promise in advancing the field of communication sciences and disorders.
Soares, who is advised by M. Adelaida Restrepo, PhD, CCC-SLP, professor and chair of CSD, stood out among a competitive pool of applicants through her research and curriculum. The scholarship will support her doctoral work and related scholarly activities.
She will be formally recognized at the Evening with the ASHFoundation: Honoring a Legacy, Inspiring Our Future event during the upcoming ASHA Convention in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 20.
"I am deeply honored to be a recipient of this scholarship from ASHFoundation," Soares said. "This support motivates me further to pursue rigorous research, and I am grateful for the opportunity. Thanks to Dr. Restrepo and my professors for their support and for believing in me throughout this journey."
