Beth Boone, PhD, BCBA, executive director of the , was appointed secretary of Disability Rights Florida’s Board of Directors last month.
Boone joined the board two years ago and currently serves as chair of the Grievance Committee and as a member of the Governance Committee. In these roles, she contributes to the board’s oversight, accountability and ethical leadership.
Her appointment was announced in December during the board’s quarterly meeting. Boone will serve an initial one-year term as secretary. In this role, she plans to help foster a board culture grounded in transparency, integrity and responsiveness, while ensuring the rights and voices of people with disabilities remain central to advocacy and decision-making.
“It is an honor to serve as secretary,” Boone said. “I am proud to continue serving alongside a board that is deeply committed to responsible governance and meaningful impact, and I look forward to contributing in this leadership capacity.”
Founded in 1977, is a nonprofit organization that provides legal advocacy and protection of rights for adults and children with a wide range of disabilities. In addition to individual advocacy, Disability Rights Florida supports statewide initiatives that include educating policymakers about the needs of people with disabilities, systemic and legal advocacy, collaboration on disability rights issues, monitoring public programs and facilities, and offering workshops and trainings.
