This summer, the David C. Anchin Center for the Advancement of Teaching once again hosted its largest annual professional learning event—the Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI)—in partnership with The College Board. Over four weeks, APSI brought together 594 teachers from across the globe to deepen their expertise in teaching Advanced Placement courses and to prepare students for success in rigorous, college-level learning.

Educators joined us from 12 countries plus Puerto Rico—including Colombia, South Korea, Qatar, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, the United States, Bermuda, Cambodia, Canada, China, the Dominican Republic, Italy, and Myanmar—and from 28 states plus the District of Columbia. Nearly 500 of this year’s participants were Florida teachers, underscoring the Institute’s strong statewide impact.

The 2025 APSI ran in four sessions: one fully online week from June 30–July 3 and three weeks on campus at USF’s Tampa campus, July 7–10, July 14–17, and July 21–24. Participants engaged in subject-specific workshops led by College Board–endorsed consultants, focusing on AP course content, instructional strategies, and exam preparation techniques. Sessions also fostered collaboration among educators, allowing teachers to exchange best practices and build professional networks that span districts, states, and even continents.

As an essential part of the Anchin Center’s professional learning portfolio, APSI reflects our commitment to supporting teachers in delivering high-quality, challenging instruction to students. By hosting this vibrant community of educators each summer, we help ensure that AP students around the world have access to the knowledge, skills, and encouragement they need to thrive.
