Anchin Partners with Office of Clinical Education to Host Annual Clinical Educator Training

Clin Ed

Each summer, the Anchin Center partners with the USF College of Education’s Office of Clinical Education and Dr. Jennifer Jacobs to offer Clinical Educator Training (Clin Ed), an essential program for preparing mentor teachers to host USF student interns in their classrooms.

Florida requires that all cooperating teachers complete Clin Ed before mentoring a pre-service teacher. This training equips educators with the knowledge and skills to effectively guide future teachers through their internship experience, providing constructive feedback, modeling best practices, and fostering professional growth.

This year’s sessions, delivered in collaboration with Dr. Jacobs, brought together classroom teachers from partner school districts to engage in interactive learning focused on mentorship, observation, and conferencing strategies. Participants explored how to create supportive, productive learning environments that benefit both interns and K–12 students.

The Clin Ed program plays a critical role in the College of Education’s teacher preparation process, ensuring that USF’s pre-service teachers are placed with highly qualified, well-prepared mentors. By investing in the development of mentor teachers, the Anchin Center strengthens the pipeline of skilled educators entering classrooms across the region.
