On February 27, 2025, the Anchin Center, in partnership with the USF Literacy Studies program, hosted a free online webinar, AI in Literacy Learning, drawing literacy educators and leaders from across the region. The session was led by from USF鈥檚 College of Education and Dennis Mont鈥橰os from USF鈥檚 Honors College, who guided participants in examining the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into literacy instruction.

The presenters addressed common misconceptions about AI, offering clarity on its capabilities and limitations in the classroom. They demonstrated how AI can be used to personalize learning, spark creativity, and deepen student engagement in literacy practices, while ensuring students use the technology thoughtfully and without shortcuts.

Attendees also participated in a hands-on activity, designing AI-infused literacy lessons they could adapt for their own classrooms. The evening concluded with a lively Q&A, where educators shared ideas, posed questions, and received practical strategies for effective AI integration. Feedback from participants reflected excitement about the possibilities AI offers for literacy teaching and a renewed confidence in exploring these tools responsibly.
