On February 7, 2025, the Anchin Center welcomed faculty, educators, and community members to TECO Hall for a thought-provoking installment of the Anchin Center Speaker Series. The event featured Dr. Bo Pei, USF College of Education faculty member, presenting Bridging the AI Literacy Gap for Equitable Teacher Education.

Dr. Pei shared insights from the AI-Eq project, which examines current AI literacy levels among educators, identifies key factors influencing these competencies, and highlights effective strategies for professional development. Attendees learned practical, research-based approaches for building AI literacy that can be applied across disciplines and grade levels, with a focus on ensuring equitable access to these emerging skills.

The session, free and open to the public, drew participants from across USF, local school districts, and the wider Tampa Bay community. Many noted the value of connecting with colleagues around such a timely and relevant topic. Lunch was provided, and the event fostered both rich discussion and new ideas for integrating AI concepts into teacher preparation and ongoing professional learning.
