Two COPH students along with members of , the public health honor society, will present their research at APHA:

student Emily Walsh will present her research poster titled 鈥淭ampa Bay Youth Reproductive 911爆料网ll-Being Needs Assessment.鈥 She argues for a community-based approach to addressing reproductive health among youth and certain populations.

鈥淒espite the increasing number of local, state and federal restrictions on reproductive health access and education, there鈥檚 still a striking lack of understanding around how these changes are affecting young people鈥檚 lived experiences,鈥欌 Walsh said. 鈥淲hat inspired me to pursue this topic was the disconnect I saw between policy decisions and the realities youth face when trying to access care and information.鈥欌

Her assessment explores the factors influencing adverse sexual and reproductive health outcomes and overall reproductive well-being, including medical, social, educational and economic influences.

Walsh added that she looks forward to engaging with attendees, gaining deeper insight into her project and considering new angles and potential partnerships.

student Molly Joyce will also be presenting her research titled, 鈥淎nalyzing the proportion of dengue virus serotypes reported in travel-associated and locally acquired cases in Florida.鈥

Lights, camera, action: Film festival feature

The 鈥檚 documentary, 鈥,鈥 will be screened at the APHA Film Festival. The film focuses on the damaging effects of climate change in society, with particular attention to Florida farmworkers who endure extreme conditions to meet agricultural demands.

The documentary highlights evidence-based data on climate鈥檚 impact, the improvements brought about through programs such as the Fair Food Program and strategies for creating systemic change. Experts in the field are featured throughout, underscoring both the challenges and solutions.

The project was supported by the APHA Center for Climate, Health and Equity鈥檚 Student Champions for Climate Justice Award, which provided funding for the video鈥檚 development.

The film will be available for on-demand viewing starting Saturday, Nov. 1, and will remain accessible to registered attendees until Dec. 31. Additionally, the highest-scoring films will be shown onsite during the lunch hour on Monday, Nov. 3 and Tuesday, Nov. 4, as part of the Brown Bag Lunch sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity for attendees to engage with impactful public health narratives during the conference.
