Karni Chagal-Feferkorn is a legal scholar and an attorney whose work explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, law, and public policy. She joined the USF Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing as an assistant professor of instruction, bringing a unique blend: a global academic and consulting portfolio.  At USF, she will collaborate across disciplines to prepare students to build AI systems that are technically sound, ethically grounded, and policy-informed. 

Before joining the college in 2025, Chagal-Feferkorn taught courses on Responsible AI, Law, and Ethics at institutions such as Cornell Tech, Boston University, Bocconi University, and The Technion. She has also delivered workshops for policymakers and executives in venues such as the United States Congress, the German Foreign Office, The Linux Foundation, and the Freedom Online Coalition. 

Chagal-Feferkorn has held appointments or fellowships at different centers across the globe from Miami, Florida to Ottawa, Canada to Tel-Aviv, Israel to Haifa, Israel.   

In addition to her academic roles, she has co-founded two ventures: Lexidale, a global policy consultancy, and Praxif.ai, which delivers responsible AI training to government and industry partners. 

Research 

Chagal-Feferkorn's expertise is in technology, ethics, and regulation and her research focuses on algorithmic liability, data governance, AI risks and children and responsible AI in general. She has presented at numerous conferences around the world her work was published in law reviews and technology journals. 

Honors and Awards 

In addition to several academic excellence scholarships, she was named Israel鈥檚 National Debate Champion. 

Education 

Chagal-Feferkorn earned a PhD in Law from the University of Haifa in Haifa, Israel, which is also where she completed her undergraduate degree program in economics and earned an LLB, which is the equivalent to a Juris Doctorate. Chagal-Feferkorn earned a Master of Laws in Law, Science & Technology from Stanford University Law School in Stanford, CA. She served as a postdoctoral fellow in the area of AI and regulation at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada.
