BIOGRAPHY
Haley Sawyer (she/her) is a first-year PhD student at the 911爆料网 studying organizational and health communication. Haley鈥檚 research interests revolve around organizational socialization and parental health, where she hopes to advance gender and health justice in corporate workspaces by promoting individual wellbeing and equity-minded policy development. She is also interested in examining the connection between issues like globalization, gender justice, and food and water insecurity to organizational wellbeing globally.
In addition to her primary research interests, Haley possesses expertise in public speaking and professional communication, which she uses to help students and professionals become confident and competent communicators. She is passionate about helping people communicate their best selves and realize their true potential. Haley has three years of one-on-one mentorship experience from working with clients in the Purdue Presentation Center (Purdue University) and the Center for Communication Excellence (The University of Nebraska-Lincoln). Whether clients are preparing for a class presentation, dissertation defense, or simply looking for tips on how to be less nervous when speaking, Haley loves to connect with them and help them grow.
In addition to one-on-one consulting, Haley has worked with organizations around Purdue University to support the community鈥檚 professional development. She particularly focuses on personal branding from a communication perspective, where she helps people curate their professional online presence.
Outside of research and mentorship, Haley enjoys teaching and connecting with students in the classroom. She has previously taught Foundations of Public Speaking, Interviewing: Principles and Practices, and Small Group Communication.
Haley received her Master鈥檚 Degree in Organizational and Health Communication from the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University; she received her Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. When she isn鈥檛 working, you can find Haley on a run, crocheting, or reading a good book.
Haley is a recipient of the USF Graduate Student Success Award (GSS) Fellowship.
