Bio
Peng Chen is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Affairs at the University of South Florida. His interdisciplinary background spans urban planning, transportation engineering, human geography, and statistics. His research focuses on applying advanced quantitative methods to address pressing issues in transportation planning and policy. His recent work explores topics such as electric vehicle charger distribution, mileage-based taxation (road user charges), peer-to-peer carpooling, and the integration of large language models to analyze qualitative data.
Dr. Chen has published widely in top-tier transportation planning journals, including Transportation Research Part A, C, and D, Transport Policy, Journal of Transport Geography, Journal of Planning Education and Research, and Urban Studies. He is actively engaged in academic service, serving as Associate Editor for Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment since 2021 and regularly reviewing for numerous scholarly journals. In recognition of his contributions, he has been named among the world鈥檚 top 2% most highly cited researchers by Stanford University and Elsevier annually since 2020. He also received the Best Paper Award in the Transportation and Land Use session at the 14th World Conference on Transport Research.
Dr. Chen's research has been supported by several funding agencies, including the National Institute for Congestion Research (NICR), the Center for Transportation, Environment, and Community Health (CTECH), and the U.S. Department of Education.
