Dr. Perez is an Assistant Professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies at the 911爆料网. She holds a Ph.D., M.Phil., M.A., and B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University. Her research and teaching span American politics and data science, with interdisciplinary approaches to political behavior, identity classification, and healthcare analytics and policy. Before joining USF, she served as Assistant Professor of Political Science at the City University of New York (CUNY), and previously worked as a data and policy analyst in Washington, D.C.
Her current research, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and other grants, applies computational methods and predictive analytics to model behavioral trends and partisan change within the U.S. electorate. Her work has been published in Electoral Studies and State Politics & Policy Quarterly.
Dr. Perez teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in American politics. Her pedagogy emphasizes experiential and applied learning, including the use of AI tools in the classroom to explore public policy, political behavior, and identity formation.
She has over a decade of experience teaching graduate-level courses in data science and quantitative methods, including ten years in Johns Hopkins University鈥檚 Data Analytics and Policy program, where she developed and taught courses such as Data-Driven Campaigns and Elections and Healthcare Analytics and Policy, and also regularly taught Quantitative Methods, Advanced Quantitative Methods, and Probability and Statistics.
Dr. Perez also participates in global virtual exchange programs that build career readiness competencies, including intercultural fluency, digital professionalism, and proficiency with emerging technology tools. Through the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative, she has collaborated for over five years with Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan.
