Curriculum Vitae
Biography
Beth Gaines is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary
Social Sciences at USF. She earned her M.A. (USF, 2022) from the Department of Women’s,
Gender, and Sexuality Studies and her B.A. (USF, 2020) from the Department of Interdisciplinary
Social Sciences with concentrations in WGSS and History. Her areas of research are
gender/sexuality, embodiment, and medicine. Specifically, she is interested in how
gender and sexuality impact the surgical decisions of breast cancer patients. When
not studying or teaching, Beth is an avid runner who enjoys participating in marathons
across the U.S.
