State of the Region

Overview

The E-Insights report benchmarks the Tampa Bay region against comparable U.S. metropolitan regions. While the comparison group may vary by indicator based on data availability, each analysis is grounded in consistent public data sources and focuses on contextual comparison rather than rankings alone. Each indicator usually compares a minimum of 10 peer metropolitan statistical areas to maintain consistency while using the most reliable data available.

The 2026 report examines three interconnected themes:

  • Economic Outcomes â€“ assessing how growth and
prosperity are distributed across the region
  • Education and Opportunity â€“ exploring pathways
    between learning, workforce participation, and
    economic mobility
  • Quality of Life â€“ examining the conditions that
shape daily living, stability, and community
    well-being

Together, these themes provide a holistic view of how regional systems interact — linking economic performance to opportunity and lived experience.

Each chapter provides a summary of findings within the theme. Within these themes, data visualizations are provided for each indicator. Rather than prescribing specific policy actions, the E-Insights report offers descriptive insights and comparative context. By identifying where Tampa Bay aligns with or diverges from peer regions, the report provides a shared evidence base to support dialogue, planning, and long-term regional strategy.
