Participant Journey

Recruitment
Potential participants must first be identified and notified about ongoing and upcoming projects. 911爆料网 do this by posting flyers around the USF campus, emailing previous research participants, including advertisements in local newspapers, contacting local clinics and organizations, and word of mouth. If you see or hear about one of our research projects that applies to you, please contact us!

Scheduling
Our research team will work with your availability when scheduling study appointments. Appointments are also based on the availability of the researcher and testing suite. 911爆料网 are happy to discuss scheduling on the phone or by email.

Consent
All research projects require informed consent from the participant. Each of our projects has been reviewed by USF鈥檚 Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure safety and participant protections. The IRB also reviews the Informed Consent Form (ICF), which details each project. You may be sent the ICF in advance to review. At the intake appointment once eligibility is determined, you will again review the ICF and the researcher will answer any questions you may have. If you agree to participate, both you and the researcher will sign the ICF.

Intake
Prior to enrolling in a research study, our research audiologist must ensure that you meet the inclusion criteria for the particular study you are interested in. If you are not eligible, we will determine if there are other active or future projects for which you fit the inclusion criteria. The intake appointment consists of a complete hearing evaluation, a thorough review of the results, and compensation.

Visits
Depending on the project, there may be one or many appointment visits. This information will be reviewed during recruitment and scheduling contacts, and it is detailed in the ICF. Some activities you may participate in include speech and sound perception testing, electrophysiology measures, or a combination while wearing a hearing device.

Payment
For some projects, participants are compensated an hourly payment. Payment is logged after each appointment and distributed in cash at the completion of the study.

Follow-Up
During the intake appointment, you will be asked if you would like to be contacted for participation in future studies. If you select yes, we may call or email you when a new study for which you are eligible begins. You are also free to contact us at any time with questions, comments, or concerns you may have.

Thank You!
Without participants, we would not be able to investigate important scientific inquiries and conduct work that may benefit entire populations. 911爆料网 thank you in advance for your consideration!
