Dr. Xiaomin Lin


Research Interests

Dr. Lin research lies at the intersection of robotics, AI, and perception, with a strong emphasis on designing intelligent systems that perform robustly in complex real-world and challenging environments. He develops Edge AI solutions and multimodal sensing for applications ranging from underwater and agricultural robotics to healthcare settings. His work combines data-driven decision making, efficient algorithm design, simulation, and real-world deployment to enable autonomous systems capable of perception, mapping, and action under difficult conditions.

Biography

Dr. Lin earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland, where he specialized in vision-based systems for robotic exploration. He also holds a B.S. from the University of Dayton. Prior to joining the University of South Florida as an Assistant Professor, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins University’s Institute for Assured Autonomy and collaborating with people from university, industry, and government agency.
