TA Teaching Orientation

Fall 2025 TA Orientation requirements:

Before the first day of classes, TA's must complete the following:

  • TA Orientation Canvas Course (All modules and quizzes)
  • One (1) in-person TA training session

Canvas Course

You must register for the TA Orientation course, through Student Self-Service using the CRN provided. The orientation consists of a set of Canvas modules and quizzes that should be completed prior to the first day of the Fall semester.

Course Name: IDS 5921 Teaching Assistant Orientation  CRN: 93021

The course will be open in Canvas in August 2025.

In-Person Training

TA's are also required to attend one face-to-face session. Face-to-face sessions will be offered on the following days:

  • Thursday, August 21, 2025
    Time: 9 AM - 11 AM
    Location: CGS 136 and CGS 138
  • Friday, August 22, 2025
    Time: 10 AM - 12 PM
    Location: ISA 1051

Note: The same session will be offered on both days. TAs only need to attend one of the two sessions.

The orientation course and in-person training must be completed in full prior to the first day of the semester in order to be in compliance with the Office of Graduate Studies training requirement for new TAs.
