GEY 4612 – Psychology of Aging

Natalia Babenko, a TA for Psychology of Aging, employed AI to develop a variety of assessments. Using the learning objectives and previously established examples, she leveraged CoPilot and Gemini to assist in creating a detailed rubric, prompting the platforms to apply a 20%-point distribution for each category. Following this, she used AI to revise all the assignment rubrics in the course, ultimately optimizing rubric consistency.

She also used AI to rapidly create a new quiz for an activity where students review websites from the CDC. She used the automated quiz import tool, GetMarked, to quickly upload questions directly into Canvas without having to copy and paste. Collectively, these tools were instrumental in saving her time while concurrently optimizing the consistency of the rubrics in the course.

Instructor Tips

  1. Having compared Microsoft Copilot and Gemini for creating the same quiz using the same prompt, I inferred that Gemini better addressed the content of the website.
  2. I really liked using AI to create a quiz and then integrating it into Canvas. This saves a lot of time.
