Strategy: Encourage Creation of Media Driven Student Projects
Artificial Intelligence can facilitate the production of diverse and high-quality media content, empowering students to unleash their creativity in project-based assignments.

For this graduate level sustainability course, Dr. TH Culhane and learning designer Alexandra Ward collaborated to address the challenge of preparing students to effectively utilize Generative AI tools for creative multimedia communication. In this course, students are encouraged to create impactful sustainability videos using ChatGPT as a scripting assistant, enabling them to effortlessly generate compelling narratives aligned with their vision and message. This approach focused on not just generating content but also fostering an understanding of optimizing and tailoring AI-generated scripts for unique video objectives. Later in the course, students also explore personalized avatars and voice narration, employing VoiceAI for real-time voice changes to bring their avatars to life, adding a layer of individuality to their multimedia projects. The integration of generative AI tools facilitated a dynamic and innovative approach to media-driven student projects.

Digital Learning Designer Tips
- Provide students with clear examples of good prompts and best practices with prompt engineering when you want them to use tools like ChatGPT to create scripts or draft papers.
- If students are using AI generated voices for video projects, ask them to consider
how different audiences might respond to various voices and tones.  This reflective
pre-planning step will help them select a voice option that is best suited to their project purpose.
