What is Rocky's Residents?
Rocky’s Residents is a residential add-on to your child’s day camp registration, designed to offer an immersive college experience. This 6-day, 5-night option, available during select weeks in the summer, includes on-campus housing, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and engaging evening activities.
Depending on the program location, campers will stay in Juniper-Poplar Hall on the USF Tampa campus or Ibis Hall on the USF St. Petersburg campus. Throughout the week, participants will connect with USF student organizations, explore recreation and wellness opportunities, engage with USF admissions, and experience campus life beyond the classroom. Rocky’s Residents is a unique opportunity for students to live, learn, and experience college life firsthand.
What is Included in Rocky's Residents

Rocky’s Residents will stay in suite-style housing at Juniper-Poplar Hall on the USF Tampa campus or in Ibis Hall on the USF St. Petersburg campus, both offering modern accommodations and comfortable spaces to live and study.
Suites Designed for Comfort
Suites at Juniper-Poplar Hall (USF Tampa) and Ibis Hall (USF St. Petersburg) offer a comfortable residential experience with double-occupancy bedrooms furnished with twin XL beds, dressers, wardrobes, desks, and desk chairs. At Juniper-Poplar Hall, two bedrooms share one bathroom, while at Ibis Hall, each bedroom has its own private bathroom shared only by the two occupants. Bedroom spaces are approximately 15’6” by 10’1”, with bathrooms measuring about 5’5” by 7’9”, providing a balance of privacy and convenience.
Fully Furnished for Easy Living
Each resident is provided with the following furniture:
- Twin XL bed
- Dresser (approx. 24" x 30")
- Desk and chair (approx. 24" x 48")
- Wardrobe or shared closet space
Suites include a private bathroom with a toilet, shower, and in-room sink. At Juniper-Poplar Hall, two bedrooms share one bathroom, while at Ibis Hall, each bedroom has its own bathroom shared only by the two occupants. Bathrooms are cleaned weekly, and toilet paper and a shower curtain liner are supplied. Additionally, each room features a window for natural light.

Starting with dinner on Sunday, all Rocky's Residents will enjoy freshly prepared meals provided daily on the USF campus through the conclusion of the camp, ensuring a satisfying and enjoyable experience.

USF Dining Halls offer unlimited servings from various stations featuring fresh, exhibition-style cooking. Stations may include options like salads, grilled items, energy-packed meals, international cuisine, and comfort food, providing something for everyone!

What is Rocky's Residents?
Rocky’s Residents is a residential add-on to your child’s day camp registration, offering an immersive college experience. How do I register for Rocky's Residents?
Rocky's Residents is an add-on experience to eligible day camps. During the registration process for your chosen day camp, you will be prompted to add the Rocky's Residents experience. Simply follow the steps to include it with your camp registration.
Accommodations and Supervision
Where will campers stay during Rocky's Residents?

What is the room like for Rocky's Residents?

What is the camper-to-staff ratio?
All of our camps adhere to American Camp Association guidelines for the supervision of minors, ensuring a 10:1 camper-to-counselor ratio.
What safety measures are in place?
Rocky's Residents ensure camper safety through a robust residence hall security program supported by staff supervision and University Police (UP) assistance.
- Hall Security: Exterior doors of each residence hall are secured 24/7. Campers will not receive keys to any doors; instead, counselors supervising throughout the night will manage access and ensure safety.
- University Police (UP): UP is a full-service law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in Hillsborough County. Officers regularly patrol the residence halls and surrounding areas and are available 24/7 to provide assistance.
By combining staff vigilance with professional law enforcement, we create a safe and secure environment for all campers.
Meals and Activities
What meals are provided?
Beginning with dinner on Sunday, all meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—will be provided at USF Dining Halls. Since your child's day camp may vary in location, the dining hall they will visit will also vary. 911±¬ÁĎÍř suggest that if there are specific snacks your child would like to bring, they can store them in the dorm room for easy access.
What activities are included in the Rocky's Residents program?
- A night with student organizations at USF
- A guided USF campus tour
- Recreation and wellness activities including Slip’n Slide, moonlight canoeing, challenge courses, intramural sports, shooting hoops, esports gaming, sports clubs, and fitness challenges
- A session on USF Admissions and Student Success, including presentations on the admissions process, financial aid, and the services available to students at USF

What should campers pack?
911±¬ÁĎÍř have prepared a list of items to assist you in packing for the Rocky's Residents experience. Please see the list below for items you should bring:

- Personal items (laptop, cell phone, assistive devices, etc.)
- Any medications you might need, both prescription and over the counter.
Are there laundry facilities available?
Laundry facilities are available on campus for Rocky’s Residents. Juniper-Poplar Hall on the USF Tampa campus has on-site laundry facilities, and campers staying at Ibis Hall on the USF St. Petersburg campus will have access to designated campus laundry options. Additional details will be shared with families prior to the start of the program.
What is the check-in and check-out process?
- Check-in for Rocky’s Residents will take place on Sunday, depending on the week selected. Families should arrive at the assigned residence hall starting at 3:00 PM. Campers attending programs on the USF Tampa campus will check in at Juniper-Poplar Hall, while campers attending programs on the USF St. Petersburg campus will check in at Ibis Hall. Upon arrival, families should park in the designated residence hall parking area, where staff will be available to assist with the check-in process. Campus-specific directions and maps will be shared with families prior to arrival.
- Check-out will take place on Friday between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM at the same residence hall where check-in occurred. Parents and guardians should plan to park in the designated residence hall parking area and assist their camper with the move-out process. Please note that some camps may end earlier on Friday; if this applies, families will receive additional details regarding modified check-out procedures in advance.
Costs and Payment
How much does the Rocky's Residents program cost?
The cost for Rocky's Residents is $1,395 per camper. This includes:
- 6 days and 5 nights of accommodation at Juniper-Poplar Hall on the USF Tampa campus or Ibis Hall on the USF St. Petersburg campus.
- All meals provided at USF Dining Halls
- Supervision and activities led by trained counselors
- Recreation and wellness activities, including sports, fitness challenges, and more
- Access to campus facilities, such as recreational fields and study lounges
- A campus tour and presentations from USF Admissions and Student Success
- Evening events with student organizations and USF faculty
- Laundry facilities for campers' use
- 24-hour on-call emergency maintenance and support

Communication
How can I contact my child during the Rocky's Residents program?
To contact your child during the Rocky's Residents program, we encourage you to reach out to them directly on their personal phone. Additionally, we will provide the phone numbers of the overnight counselors working that week. If you need to get in touch with a counselor or have any urgent concerns, please call our office at 813-974-3355, and we will assist you.
What is the policy for parents visiting during the program?
Parents, guardians, and siblings are the only approved visitors during the summer component of Rocky's Residents. 911±¬ÁĎÍř ask that visits be limited to Sunday Move-In and Friday Check-Out. All visits must be pre-arranged with a USF Office of Youth Experiences staff member to ensure smooth logistics and proper coordination.
Miscellaneous
What happens if a camper becomes sick or injured?
If a camper becomes sick or injured during the Rocky's Residents program, our first priority is their health and well-being. 911±¬ÁĎÍř have trained staff and counselors who are prepared to handle minor illnesses and injuries. For any medical concerns, the camper will be taken to the appropriate medical facility or USF Health Services if necessary. Parents/guardians will be promptly contacted in the event of a serious illness or injury. 911±¬ÁĎÍř will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure the camper receives the care they need.
Can campers leave the program early?
Campers may leave the Rocky's Residents program early only with prior approval from the USF Office of Youth Experiences. If a camper needs to leave early due to illness, family emergency, or other extenuating circumstances, parents/guardians must contact the program staff to make arrangements. Proper documentation and coordination will be required to ensure the camper’s safe departure from the program.
Are electronics allowed?
Campers are allowed to bring electronics such as phones, tablets, and gaming devices; however, these items must be used responsibly and in accordance with program guidelines. Electronics should not interfere with camp activities or the camper’s engagement with others. During scheduled group activities, campers will be encouraged to keep certain electronics stored safely in their rooms. Please note that the program is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
What is the refund policy for the residential program?
Cancellations made up to 15 business days before the start date of Rocky's Residents are eligible for a full refund, minus a non-refundable processing fee. Cancellations within 15 business days of the start date are non-refundable. If a camper needs to withdraw due to medical reasons or emergencies, please contact the USF Office of Youth Experiences for assistance. Refunds will not be issued for early departures or no-shows.
