New robots see it all: ocean whirlpools, carbon gas absorption, icebergs, and more

USF researchers are using autonomous vehicles to study how the ocean is responding to climate change. In 2020 they landed a $1.1 million NSF proposal -- the first time NSF is leveraging ocean drones instead of ships (USF College of Marine Science).
