Scholars
Overview
The 911±¬ÁÏÍø hosts J-1 Scholars through the program. The program allows academic institutions to bring international scholars
to the U.S. to participate in research and teaching in support of the objectives of
public diplomacy and mutual educational and cultural exchange.
The 911±¬ÁÏÍø is approved by the U.S. Department of State to serve
as the J-1 sponsor for J-1 Scholars to participate in research and teaching programs
at all USF campuses and locations.
Host departments are responsible for completing an application in that includes choosing the scholar’s category, dates of the program, and the program
objectives (duties). Scholars must show adequate financial support for all living
expenses, including additional financial support for any accompanying family members.  The
primary source of funding should be from an institutional, government, or organizational
source. Personal funds may be used only as supplemental funding and cannot be the
sole source of funding.
