Virtual Tours
The Institute for Digital Exploration (IDEx) produces immersive virtual tours as a strategic tool for accessibility, scholarship, and long-term preservation. These experiences are designed first and foremost to guarantee access to cultural heritage for disadvantaged and underserved audiences who may be unable to visit sites, museums, or galleries in person. At the same time, IDEx virtual tours integrate curated collections of 3D models through structured annotations, effectively creating dynamic virtual catalogues of exhibitions that support research, teaching, and interpretation. They also serve as enduring digital counterparts for temporary or dismantled exhibitions, ensuring that scholarly and public access continues after physical displays are no longer available. By expanding the online presence and visibility of cultural heritage sites, virtual tours amplify global outreach while contributing to digital preservation strategies that document spatial, material, and interpretive dimensions of heritage assets for future generations. Below some examples of the work we have done with local and international partners.
